Best Mattress Store in Fort Myers? How to Choose (2026)

What to look for in a Fort Myers mattress store: real prices, delivery, financing, and who you actually deal with. A local family's honest checklist.

Search “best mattress store in Fort Myers” and you get a wall of chain showrooms, furniture stores, and online bed-in-a-box brands. They all say they’re the best deal. Here’s how to actually tell, from Mike and Karen Murphy, who have run Mattress By Appointment - Fort Myers as a family business since 2014.

The four kinds of mattress stores in Southwest Florida

Chain mattress showrooms. Lots of locations and constant “sales.” The catch is overhead: rent on busy roads, staff on commission, and TV and radio ads all get built into the price. The “50% off” sticker is often off an inflated list price.

Furniture stores. Good if you’re buying a whole bedroom set. Mattresses are a side category, so the selection and the expertise are usually thinner.

Online bed-in-a-box. Cheap and convenient, but you can’t lie on it first, returns mean wrestling a mattress back into a box or arranging a pickup, and most only sell their own foam bed.

Appointment-only showrooms. A newer model: no walk-in traffic, so no big storefront staff and no expensive ad budget. You book a time and get the showroom to yourself. That’s the model we use, and it’s why we can sell the same name brands at 50-80% off big retail prices.

A checklist that works at any store

  1. Ask for the out-the-door price. Mattress, foundation, delivery, haul-away, and tax. Compare that number, not the “sale” sticker.
  2. Ask which brands are actually on the floor. You want to lie on the exact model you’re buying. We carry Tempur+Sealy, Diamond Mattress, Brooklyn Bedding, and Malouf.
  3. Ask about delivery timing for your city. In Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Lehigh Acres, Estero, Bonita Springs, and Naples, same-day delivery should be realistic when the mattress is in stock. Farther out (Sanibel, Marco Island, Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte) is usually next-day.
  4. Ask who you’re dealing with. A commissioned salesperson is paid to move inventory. At a family-owned store, you’re often talking to the owner, who has to see you around town.
  5. Ask about financing without a credit check. Many stores only offer credit-card style financing. We offer payment plans with no credit needed and $20 down.
  6. Read the reviews, and read the recent ones. Our Google rating is 4.8 stars from more than 200 reviews. Look for reviews that mention delivery and what happened after the sale, not just the showroom visit.

Florida-specific things to think about

Heat and humidity matter here. Look for breathable covers, gel or copper-infused foam, or hybrid designs with coils for airflow. We wrote a whole guide on choosing a mattress for Florida’s humidity and heat.

If you’re refurnishing a vacation rental or a home that’s been rebuilt after a storm, ask about buying several beds at once. A store with a warehouse nearby can deliver multiple mattresses in one trip.
